The Philosophy Olympiads are aimed at secondary school pupils to promote and support the educational potential of philosophy.

The competition is part of the Italian Ministry of Education’s annual programme for the improvement of excellence. Participation in the Olympiads is free of charge.

The aims and objectives of the Philosophy Olympiads are as follows:

• To deepen the philosophical content, to adopt new methodologies and new pedagogical tools;
• To open the teaching/learning of philosophy to the European and non-European school reality;
• To link schools, universities and research organizations in order to disseminate and reinforce the critical spirit in the education of future citizens.
