Music Project in Secondary

In the European Schools curriculum, the music course can be taken from S1 until S7.

The Orchestra & The Choir

The orchestra and choir project is a music initiative that is organised in S1-S3. In principle the pupils engage themselves for three years to be part of the group, once they enter in S1.

The orchestra meets each week for two additional periods (during the school day) on top of the regular music classes. The choir only meets one extra period per week. Although they work as three groups, the winds, strings and choir, the schedule is put together in such a way that there is room for full orchestra-and choir classes/rehearsals.

Traditionally the orchestra and choir play during Christmas concerts and Somerfesto. We also participate in exchanges with other European Schools and Accredited European Schools. Our pupils are sometimes invited to play for the European Institutions.

In 2019, we recorded a Christmas CD which was very well received.

In 2025, the Music and Art departments organised the Festival of Arts and Music in the European Schools.
