Solidarity

Our school takes part in various solidarity projects and initiatives.

Our school has been involved in Action Damien for ten years. We have supported awareness campaigns and the sale of markers and key chains for the benefit of the NGO.

Action Damien was founded in 1964. The organization fights against infectious diseases like leprosy, tuberculosis and leishmaniasis.

More information on the website of Action Damien (in French or Dutch).

Every year, our school collects shoe-boxes for the non-profit organisation Les Samaritains. They are intended for homeless or destitute people.

The association was created in 1994 to bring warmth and comfort to people in precarious situations through the distribution of meals. In 1999, the association launched the Shoe-Box Campaign, a collection of non-perishable food.

In December, pupils and other members of the school community are invited to fill a shoe-box with 7 to 8 food products, wrap it and bring it to the school’s collection spots. Volunteers from the association pick them up during the last week before the Winter break.

More information on the website of the Shoe-Box campaign.

At the end of the school year, the school and the library collect books to be given to the Read to Grow, an association that promotes access to reading and literacy around the World.

Pupils and members of the school community are invited to bring one or several books they want to share with other children. It is coordinated by the librarians. Volunteers from the association collect them at school.

EEB4 has shared, taken part in and organised several solidarity actions in favor of Ukraine and Ukrainians affected by the war (various collections of basic necessities, White Day for Peace, flag representing the dove of Peace). A few Ukrainian pupils are currently attending classes in our school, as is the case in other European Schools.

We invite you to continue the solidarity effort that started in winter 2022. The European Commission’s website gives several ways to help the Ukrainians.

Like many, we have been affected by the earthquakes that hit Syria and Turkey in February 2023.
