What’s up at the library?

A bit like a label, LOVE OF READING aims to bring together all the initiatives taken to promote reading and literature under a single name, whether they are organised by librarians, a teacher or an external project in which we are involved.

You can identify LOVE OF READING projects by the logo.

Book Week

23 April marks World Book and Copyright Day. The library and school celebrate this special day in a number of ways, including Book Week.

Meetings with authors

Several times during the school year, librarians and teachers organise meetings with authors and illustrators.

Readings

The librarians often put on their storytelling costumes to read albums, tales and stories to nursery and primary pupils in the French-speaking section, as well as to L2 FR classes.

Exhibitions

Exhibitions are held at the library throughout the year.

Prix Farniente

The Prix Farniente is dedicated to older readers than the Prix Versele. There are two categories « 13 + » and « 15+ ».

At the start of each school year, the librarians introduce the 10 competing books to French teachers. If they wish to, a presentation can also be made in class. Two copies of each book are available at the library.

The book clubs start when the presentations of the Prix Farniente as well a the Prix Versele selections are made.

More information on the website of the Prix Farniente.

Premio Strega

The library is supporting the school’s participation in the Premio Strega selection, an Italian literary competition for all age groups : Premio Strega et Premio Strega Ragazze e Ragazzi.

Prix Versele

The library has been involved in the Prix Bernard Versele since its creation in 2007.

Each year, librarians read books in competition to the nursery, p1, p2, p3 pupils.

Pupils vote for their favorite book. The results are sent to the Ligue des familles and added to the other votes.

The books selected for the 4 owls (chouette) and 5 owls (chouette) categories are presented at the beginning of the school year to pupils in p4, p5 and s1, in the library or in class. Pupils who wish to participate register and vote before April 30.

The final results will be available in June!

More information on the website of the Ligue des familles.

Kamishibai Theatre

This activity takes place as part of Book Week.

For a fortnight, nursery, P1, P2 and P3 classes have the opportunity to attend a Kamishibai theatre performance given in the language of the section.
