The Library

Welcome to the library of the European School of Brussels IV!

The library is an integral part of the teaching process.

It is open for pupils and teachers to borrow books, magazines and other media, but it is also a quiet and friendly space, accessible every day during school hours (except during the lunch break).

Our catalogue includes over 35,000 resources: books and magazines in Bulgarian, Croatian, Dutch, English, Estonian, French, German, Italian, Irish, Romanian and Spanish.

The library has a number of digital resources available to the school community. They can be consulted at school, on the computers provided, or online.

Throughout the year, we organise a variety of activities to promote a love of reading and books (and even more so during Book Week).

We try to offer a service for every cycle and every language in the school.

We are available to help with literature searches, give advice on what to read, offer read-alouds in our mother tongue (in primary), and draw up themed lists of documents available in the library at the request of teachers. We will be happy to answer your questions and help you with your research.

The library is located in two buildings:

Nursery and Primary cycles in the L building

Open every day from 08:15 to 16:15 (lunch break from 12:15 to 13:00). Nursery and primary pupils visit the library every fortnight, accompanied by their teacher.

Secondary Cycle in the R building, 2nd floor (R201)

Open every day from 08:15 to 16:10 (lunch break from 12:35 to 13:30).

Secondary school pupils go there on their own or with their teacher to carry out documentary research (computers are available) and to work in a quiet environment (a number of dictionaries and encyclopaedias are also available).

There is also a reading corner where pupils can relax and read novels, magazines, comics or manga.
